CHICAGO SNAPS

Just a small selection of my favourite photos taken whilst away in the windy city a couple of weeks back...

WORDS

Every blog I follow seems to be raving about this, I guess it is pretty good though.....

CIELITO QUERIDO CAFE MEXICO

Someone take me for coffee in Mexico!
After seeing this set of photos of the Cielito Querido Cafe I now know where my dream destination for a caffeine fix is!

'Drawing upon Mexican design heritage and inspiration from Latin graphic design of the late 19th to early 20th century – Latin-American sign making fused with the product labels of old grocery stores – Mexican studio, Esrawe, have created a wonderfully diverse interior for this newly conceived cafĂ© that, whilst steeped in nostalgia, has it’s very own unique flavour.'

Quite simply this is the most beautifully interiored coffee house i've ever seen. I love the bold use of colour on black, the typography adorning the walls, ceiling and products, the fabrics used on some of the seating, oh, and that geometric floor tiling that is.......just amazing!

TUNE YARDS

I came across Tune Yards today thanks to a post on Gopher Illustrated's blog. The video was what grabbed my attention, a live recording of the extremely talented Merrill Garbus, who's solo project this is (excluding the dude on bass). I'm rather late in discovering this artist as her debut album was released in June of last year, but i've already played the album twice within the hour on spotify and love it's lo-fi home recorded vibe that syncs so well with her beautiful voice (News is my personal fave track). Her music sounds like a mash of the dirty projectors and st. vincent to me, I highly recommend giving her a listen...

I'VE CAUGHT BIEBER FEVER

After listening to Justin Bieber for a whole 35 minutes I was in a trance. This slowed down track of 'U Smile' is so epic!! Like Sigur Ross and Eno! Beautiful...

BUSY BUSY

Well it's seems to of been a long time since I last posted anything here! The holiday to Chicago may of had something to do with that, and the fact that whilst there my google reader stacked up a daunting amount of posts, so I've been slowly trawling my way through that! It's been a week since me and Aimee got back from the states so I need to get my arse into gear and get back on the blogging horse, get ready for moving into my new flat and get my summer graphics project finally underway!

I'll be uploading photos of the Chicago trip very soon, and whilst i'm here I might as well gloat about the fact that I bought myself an Ipad whilst over in the states. It's a lovely little toy!
